Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar has announced that Goddess Durga idols can be installed for Dasara festivities at various points in the city only after organisers take permission from police authorities in the area.

The Commissioner’s stipulations came with the festivities scheduled to start on September 28 and conclude on October 8, the Vijaya Dashami Day.

Those consecrating the idols on September 28 and taking them out in a procession on October 8 will have to obtain police clearance from the Divisional Assistant Commissioners of Police. Forms to apply for permission prior to installation of the idol will be available at all police stations of the city from September 20 to September 24.

Following are the rules to be followed by those proposing to install Durga idols:

Forms seeking police clearance before installing Durga idols have to be submitted to the respective police stations, clearly indicating the place and date of proposed installation, as also date, time, route and destination of the proposed immersion procession.

Organisers seeking police clearance will have to furnish a “No Objection Certificate” from the owner of the premises or land, where the idol is to be installed, irrespective of whether it is private or government

land. Installation will be allowed only at places where free flow of traffic will not be obstructed or lead to any threat to public peace and order.

No unauthorised power supply will be permitted at pandals where idols are to be installed. Certificate from TSSPDCL that the electricity connection is an authorised one will have to be attached to the form seeking police clearance.

Use of loudspeakers will be restricted only to box type. Police clearance is mandatory for both organisers and those who hire loudspeakers. Noise levels will have to be maintained within the permissible limits. Organisers must provide suitable identity cards/badges to volunteers who will be deployed for maintaining queue and order at the time of worship in various Durga mandaps. Safety of idols and fire safety measures during “Aarthi” will be the sole responsibility of organisers.

Those desirous of taking out a procession for immersion of idols must submit the Form of Intimation individually to ACPs concerned through the respective Station House Officers of the police station, mentioning the date, time and route of the said procession, and obtain police clearance for the same.
