Banjara Hills ACP K. Srinivas Rao said that they are on the job of verifying the call data records of the deceased leader and recovered some papers from his room.

The Banjara Hills police have questioned about 12 persons in connection with the case of the suspicious death of Andhra Pradesh former Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao. The police said they would record the statements of his family members after they return to the city and also are on the job of finding out whom he spoke to last. Dr Rao was found hanging from the ceiling at his house on Road No 7. of Banjara Hills on Monday and was declared dead when he was taken to the Bavasavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital.

A complaint was lodged by the senior Telugu Desam Party leader’s daughter at the Banjara Hills police station alleging that he was harassed by the newly formed Andhra Pradesh government and was also falsely implicated in cases.

The police who had registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of CrPC, has taken up the investigation. They recovered some papers from the room where Dr. Rao was found hanging, including a paper containing the names of some medicines.

According to sources, the prima facie investigation of the police revealed that he spoke to a female doctor working in the city before he went upstairs to his room for a long time.

Meanwhile, the police have also inspected the hospital where he was taken to for emergency treatment and also questioned a total of 12 persons related to him. The police are planning to question the former TD leader’s son Dr. Siva Rama Krishna and other family members to record their statements.

Speaking to the media, Banjara Hills ACP K. Srinivas Rao said that they are on the job of verifying the call data records of the deceased leader. “So far, 12 persons have been questioned and more would be questioned from his family. Verification of his call data records is underway and based on the outcome, further investigation would proceed,” the ACP told the media.
