The daughter-in-law of former judge Nooty Rama Mohan Rao, Sindhu Sharma, who released the videos of CCTV footage to the public which shows the physical abuse and harassment she underwent, has stated that she wants to stay with her husband Nooty Vasista, in view of upbringing their two children.

“I don't want to them to grow up without their father. But I have received a divorce notice from my husband, following which I released the videos.” Despite the inhuman behaviour and extreme torture she faced, she states that she is open to reconciliation for the sake of her children.

The series of videos, dated April 20, 2019, depicting physical abuse by her husband and in-laws, were released by her and have gone viral on social media. The video shows the family arguing in the beginning and it soon turns into violent physical abuse, as her husband violently pushes and hits her, while her daughter, a toddler, is holding her mother's leg. The child is completely ignored by the judge, his wife and son as they pulverise Sharma, the mother-in-law occasionally

stopping her son and rebuking him for his most terrible violence.

A case was registered against the former judge Nooty Rama Mohan Rao, his wife N. Durga Jayalaxmi, son N. Vasishta and their domestic help at the Central Crime Station (CCS) in Hyderabad on April 26. The case was filed under sections 498A (cruelty by husband and relatives), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sindhu Sharma said, “On the same day of the physical abuse, I was admitted in Apollo hospital and, after a week, I staged a dharna in front of their house as they detained my children in their house. I filed a petition in the high court through which I got the custody of my elder daughter.”

However, the judge's family members denied the allegations stating that the video was manipulated and fabricated. She tried to commit suicide following which the family members tried to stop her from taking that extreme step. “Since the issue is in court I don't want to comment on it,” said Nooty Ramamohana Rao.

Commenting on this, Sharma said, “They are saying that I was trying to commit suicide by consuming poison. To stop me from taking that extreme step, they tackled me. It is not at all true. I ask them to show my fingerprints on the bottle. For the sake of defending themselves they have fabricated the story of suicide.” She further added, “Until a few days ago I was in hope of reconciliation with my husband for the sake of my childrens future. I don't want my children to grow up without their father. But they are adamant and want to get rid of me and take my children away from me. They insist that I not approach the media. They want to bury the truth of their physical abuse forever. So I decided to put it in public domain.”
