RESIDENTS SURPRISED BY TROT PATROL

- DC CORRESPONDENT

It was a surprise for the citizens of Old City as senior government and police officials visited their area on horses as a part of a heritage walk. The senior officials were mounted on police horses and surveyed the bylanes of the city. As many as 20 horses started the trot from the mounted unit at Goshamahal at 6.00 am. Such Heritage trots are popular in some historical cities of Europe.

During the eco-friendly ride, crossing Madina towards Patherghatti, Charminar, Mecca Masjid with the termination point at Chowmahalla palace, the officials interacted with locals and expressed displeasure over the sanitation.

During the ride, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar took officials to task over the poor sanitation in the Old City since it was a holiday and several tourists visit the place. He asked officials to chalk out a special action plan pertaining to sanitation, particularly on holidays. Accompanied by Khairatabad zonal commissioner Musharraf Faruqui, Mr Kumar inspected the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects and the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP). The duo also avoided potholes passing through Goshamahal, High Court, Puranapul, and Charminar.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar met the patrol officers and many local citizens of the area. The community was surprised to see so many senior officers visiting the area so early in the morning. He said that such adventure also relaxes a person from various stresses. Captain PR Singh and Siraj Attari of the Indian Polo Association accompanied officials and appreciated the efforts made by the city police.
