CITY’S DOOR NUMBERS TO GO DIGITAL

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar on Sunday issued orders to constitute a high level committee headed by civic body commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar to suggest modalities and the road map for implementation of QR code based digital door-numbering in the state.

The committee has been asked to submit its report by October 30.

Mr Kumar said the committee would study the implementation of digital door numbering in cities like New Delhi, Bengaluru and Vijayawada. It would suggest how to integrate digital door numbering with property tax, town planning and sanitation, so that all the information can be captured through QR code system.

The various technologies in the field along with preparing a roadmap including timelines and costing for carrying it out in the state would be looked into by the committee.

Mr Kumar observed that the digital door numbering would be convenient for the public and help in improving sanitation. He said the door numbers in Hyderabad and in other cities in the state had become extremely complex over the years.

It was being done randomly and with each addition or division of property, the numbering had become so complex, that it’s almost impossible to locate properties based on door numbers.

He also tasked the committee to study the best practices for waste management and construction and demolition (C&D) processing. For this the committee will visit Indore, Mysuru and Surat. It will make a presentation by October 25 on its report and the road map for sanitation waste and C&D management for Hyderabad.
