Parth elected players’ rep on HCA Council
Former Ranji Trophy cricketer Parth Satwalekar has been elected the men’s Players Representative on the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Apex Council.
The 45-year-old defeated
63-year-old Mirza Faiyaz Baig by 48-21 votes. Elections will held via evoting.
Joining Parth on the HCA panel will be P. Subhadra Suri, who was elected unopposed as the female players’ representative.
A right-handed batsman and right-arm mediumpacer, Parth has played 12 first class matches between 1999 and 2001, scoring 551 runs including five half-centuries at an average of
27.55. He also has 19 wickets at an average of 35.68, his best being 4 for 41.
Former wicketkeeper Faiyaz played 18 matches and scored 476 at an average of 31.73, including three half-centuries. He also has 25 catches and six stumpings.
Gaekwad makes it to BCCI Council
Meanwhile at the national level, former Indian opener Anshuman Gaekwad will be the male players’ representative on the BCCI Apex Council after beating Kirti Azad by 471-381 votes. Rakesh Dhruve came third with 223 votes.
Former Indian captain Shantha Rangaswamy was elected unopposed as the female players’ representative on the BCCI Apex Council.
Surender Khanna will be the players’ nominee on the IPL Governing Council.
In the elections for the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA), Hitesh Majumdar defeated Ashu Dani 646 votes to 436 while V. Krishnaswamy polled 739 votes to be elected treasurer ahead of Kishore Kumar Sharma, who got 336 votes.
Ashok Malhotra was elected unopposed as ICA president earlier.
Elsewhere, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly’s brother Snehasish got elected as the men’s players’ representative on the CAB while Gargi Banerjee will represent the female players.
