Confesses to dumping body on rail tracks after 3 days

A girl has confessed to killing her mother who, according to the police, opposed her relationsh­ip with her boyfriend. Keerthi reportedly took the help of her lover to kill her mother, Ranjitha, 38, and kept the body at home for three days before disposing it of on the railway tracks near the Ramanapet station.

According to the police, the incident happened on October 19. Keerthi and her boyfriend, Chanti alias Sashi, killed Ranjitha by strangling her with a chunni. They spent three days with the body until the smell of the decomposin­g body forced them to shift it in a four-wheeler on October 21 and leave it near the railway tracks.

Keerthi’s father, Srinivas Reddy, who was a lorry driver and would be on the road and away from home for weeks at a time, returned on October 24 and found the house locked. He called his daughter who told him

The accused were identified as T. Supriya, her parents K. Srinivas and Sunitha and brother K. Sathvik. Supriya had married Dhanraj four months ago but ma rital disputes sprang up between them quickly.

The complainan­t, Ms Thaduri Sarala, 48, told the police that on October 21 she went out shopping at about 3 pm. When she returned at around 6.15 pm, she found the doors open. On checking the house, she found that gold and silver ornaments worth `18 lakh were missing.

The Bowenpally police analysed CCTV footage in the surroundin­g areas and identified the suspects as the complainan­t’s relatives. The investigat­ion team took the suspects into custody and questioned them. Supriya, the main accused, confessed that

Finding something fishy, relatives questioned Keerthi about her Vizag tour and she gave evasive answers. After two days of questionin­g by her relatives, she told them her mother had committed suicide. When asked about the body, she was silent. she used duplicate keys to enter the house and decamped with the booty in the car.

She told the police that she had a marital dispute with her in-laws and wanted to take revenge. She discussed the plan with her family and all of them supported and joined her.

Supriya said she knew that her mother-in-law keeps a large amount of money in the house as she runs a money-lending business.Police is suspecting that a dowry demand might have led to the robbery. Supriya left for her maternal home on Friday.

The investigat­ing team were informed about this and took her in for questionin­g. She confessed that she had a grudge against her mother for opposing her relationsh­ip with her boyfriend and thus the two hatched the plan to kill her.
