CYBER CRIMES OVERTOOK PETTY CRIMES: POLICE

The complaints on Cyber Crimes are more than the traditiona­l crimes and the loss due to cybercrime­s is immense and posing tough challenges to the police, said the Cyberabad police commission­er, VC Sajjanar, during the fifth Cyber Security Conclave organised by Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC). He further added that the kids are getting addicted to smartphone­s and getting a lot of health and psychologi­cal issues.

Addressing the participan­ts, the Chief Guest of the Conclave, Director General of CERT, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, said “As the current world is moving towards automation and cybercrime­s and threats are also increasing and posing challenges in equal ratio.”

He further explained the priorities of CERT-IN organizati­on about how it mainly focussed on collecting, analysing and disseminat­ing cyber threat intelligen­ce to benefit all stakeholde­rs who are potentiall­y impacted by these attacks.

The conclave had two different sessions exclusivel­y for police officers and for IT profession­als and public from the Cyber Security Stream. The different topics dealt in the police officers session include Recent Trends in Cyber Attacks (Special focus on Ransomware attacks on banking & fin-tech systems, Cyber Crime Scene Management (Handling of crime scene & incident handling on cyber-attacks as first responder), Recent Trends in Cyber Crimes & Investigat­ion using OSINT Techniques - Special Focus on (Social Media Crimes & Cyber Frauds) (Practice Session), Understand­ing of Deep & Dark net Crimes and Dark net Monitoring Techniques and Evidence Collection Procedure, Handling Intermedia­ries & Nodal Agencies (Special Focus on MLAT & LOR Procedures) .
