Criminal stabs friend in fight over phone

A dispute over a phone between two youngsters, both habitual offenders, resulted in one stabbing the other with a knife in Banjara Hills area on Tuesday. The injured has been admitted to a private hospital.

was clicking pictures on a mobile phone, which, incidental­ly, was a stolen one. Irshad turned up and he too took some pictures on Ravinder’s phone but took it away with him to tease his friend.

On Monday, Ravinder went to Irshad’s house and collected the phone from the latter’s mother. When the duo met later in the day, they ended up quarrellin­g over the phone and Ravinder hit Irshad. On Tuesday, Irshad accosted Ravinder on Tuesday at a hotel in Filmnagar and stabbed him on the cheek and neck. Locals alerted police, who rushed to the spot and shifted Ravinder to a private hospital for treatment. Irshad has been into custody for questionin­g. Banjara Hills inspector R. Kalinga Rao said, “The dispute was not over the stolen phone, but because Irshad had taken away Ravinder’s phone”.
