52 medical bodies meet with TS health minister

Fifty-two medical associations in the state met on Saturday and urged health minister Etala Rajendar to stop the proposed rationalisation scheme as it was creating a dispute among health employees.

The rationalisation scheme is leading to juniors getting promoted and senior employees being ignored.

Dr Putta Srinivas, convener of the Telangana Joint Action Committee of health and medical department, explained, “The government is replacing people instead of recruiting for the sanctioned posts. This is not the right practice.”

He said the rules have to be followed and in sanctioned posts proper steps must taken which will ensure that seniors are not bypassed. “The practice of rationalisation is not good as all of us have participated and fought for statehood,” he said.

Rationalisation is being done in the positions of heads of department and the leading posts. There are 33 districts where only incharge district medical and health officers have been appointed. The JAC said the state had 1.6 lakh health employees and they wanted the government to look into their demands for health cards, contract employees to be made permanent and filling up sanctioned posts.

The government order has been issued for formation of nursing directorate but there is no work done on that front. There is no work done for the regional directorates either, the employees said.

Contract employees in Vaidya Vidhan Parishad are paid once in two months and there is a demand they must get their salaries every month.
