Croatian coach for city clinic
Academia Sports Village, a Hyderabad-based multiple sports promoter, has joined hands with prominent A-grade Croatian tennis coach Duje Tomasovic for a highvoltage international summer camp to be organised at the end of March.
The camp will be held at the ultra-modern tennis courts housed within the Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club (HPRC) complex at Aziz Nagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, a two-day interaction session and fitness programme for children and parents with Tomasovic will be held on February 1 and 2 at the HPRC, Sports Village CFO Durdana Arshi said.
Tomasovic has mentored some of the finest international stars from Croatia and is the head coach of Tenis Klub Split from where players like Goran Ivanisevic, Mario Ancic, Nikola Pilic, Jelena Kostanic and Petra Martic rose to fame.
Consul General of Turkey Dr Adnan Altay Altinors appreciated Sports Village CEO Mohammad Shamsuddin for his efforts bring in the best of coaches for training camps in Hyderabad and hoped the youngsters would benefit from them.
Speaking at the event, Tomasovic said he intends to put in place an organised system where players will be able to choose the mode of training that suits them well. “The age of five to seven is the best to start tennis. India is a much bigger country than Croatia. There is plenty of talent here. I am looking forward to educating players and coaches — I know a lot of ways to help them. They will see tennis in a different way I promise,” he said, adding that the doors of Tenis Klub at
Split in Croatia would always be open to youngsters of Academia Sports Village for an exchange programme to facilitate players to push their limits.
“Tennis is much like life, you have to make a decision before every shot you hit, and when things go wrong you need to control your emotions. More often than not a match is decided by a point or two and it’s crucial to play those tough ones well,” he concluded.
