KURNOOL GIRL APPEALS FOR EVACUATION

- D. SIVA RAMI REDDY I DC

The Kurnool girl stranded at coronavirus-hit Wuhan put out a recorded video message on Friday appealing to the Indian government to evacuate her to a safer city or allow her to return home, even as prospects brightened for a resolution to her problem.

Annem Jyothi, from Bheemunipadu in Koilakuntla mandal of Kurnool district, pleaded that she could be kept in isolation wards in India along with other returnees from Wuhan. This is her second video appeal in less than a week. Ms Jyothi is one of the 58 staffers of TSL Company for training in Wuhan.

Meanwhile, Nandyal MP Pocha Brahmananda Reddy met Indian external affairs minister S. Jaishankar in New Dehi and appealed for Ms Jyothi to be evacuated from Wuhan. Ms Jyothi had been left behind at Wuhan when about 670 others were flown back to India as she was running a fever.

Bramhanada Reddy said that Jyothi was hale and healthy and she was not running a fever nor was coughing. Jaishankar spoke to Jyothi and assured her that she would be air-lifted soon. Her mother Prameela hoped that Jyothi would in time for her marriage on March 15.

Ms Prameela has been offering prayers at the Mahanandi temple for the past 10 days for Ms Jyothi’s safe return. Ms Jyothi is engaged to marry Mr Amaranath Reddy, a chartered accountant working in Bengaluru.

In her plea, Ms Jyothi said: “Today is the seventh day since I was rejected as I was suspected of having the coronavirus. Till now I have not had symptoms. I am fine and in good health.”
