Coronavirus: Indians on ship are now better
The Indian Embassy in Japan on Saturday said that the health of all three Indian detected with Novel Coronavirus
(COVID-19) on board cruise ship Diamond Princess is improving and they are working with the Japanese agencies for early disembarkation of those not infected after the quarantine period.
The embassy said that till now 216 people on board the ship have been detected with
COVID-19 out of which three are Indians and no new cases involving Indians have been found. “As per information no Indian on board Diamond Princess cruise ship has developed any symptoms of infection since Friday,” Indian government said in a statement.
“On enquiring, the Embassy has learnt that the health condition of all the three Indian nationals currently being treated for
COVID-19 is improving. Embassy is also coordinating with relevant Japanese authorities and cruise company to ensure the well-being of all Indian nationals onboard the ship and for their disembarkation after end of quarantine period,” the Indian embassy in Tokyo said.
The Indian Embassy in Tokyo is in constant touch with the Indian nationals on-board the ship. “They are successfully braving the situation. The Embassy is in discussion with the ship management company as well,” Indian Embassy said.
Meanwhile, 406 people brought back from Wuhan and kept under quarantine in ITBP camp in Delhi may be released next week if their final samples test negative, officials said on Saturday.
The report of all the people quarantined is expected by Monday.
