AP WANTS 655 POWER STAFF BACK IN TS

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The Andhra Pradesh power utilities strongly defended their stand on the bifurcation of state cadre employees between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state before the one-man committee of Justice Dharmadhikari in New Delhi on Sunday. The committee is likely to deliver its supplementary report in a week.

AP Transco joint managing director, K.V.N. Chakradharbabu said that senior advocate Puneet attended the hearing and objected to the recommendations of the committee on reallocation of 655 employees to Andhra Pradesh from the Telangana state in view of the financial condition of the AP utilities.

AP has requested the committee to allocate the 6,102 employees between the two states and requested the ratios not be altered. The 655 employees sent to AP are above the ratios suggested.

AP Transco energy secretary, Srikant Nagulapalli and other senior officials submitted all the grievances before the committee and mentioned that the state power sector had undergone many hardships and the utilities were not in a position to bear the burden of salaries and pensions.

Senior advocate A. Arunakumar Sanghi, who represented the 655 employees, appealed to the committee for directions for cancellation of relieving orders issued by the TS government and arrange salaries for the employees. He requested the committee for arranging the continuation of services of the employees from January 5. The employees can be relieved from TS power utilities only after getting reposting orders from AP power utilities, he said.
