Seven held for fake promises of govt jobs

Seven persons were arrested by the Rachakonda police for cheating unemployed youth on the pretext of providing jobs in the railways, forest and postal department­s. The accused collected `70 lakh, out of which police recovered `47 lakh from the gang and also fake appointmen­t letters.

Special Operation Team (SOT), L. B. Nagar, sleuths apprehende­d Shivaranja­ni, Mohammed Azeemuddin, Jagadish Naidu, Ramesh Babu, Mohammed Khalid Khan, BV Madhusudha­n Rao, Obula Reddy, who duped innocent job seekers by promising to provide jobs as ticket collectors, clerks and gatemen in the Indian railways and different posts in the postal and forest department­s, through backdoor entry by paying money.

The accused targetted job seekers from Hyderabad and Kadapa and collected money varying from `1 lakh to `6.5 lakh. They issued fake appointmen­t letters and identifica­tion cards. Two cases had been registered against the gang members at LB Nagar and Jawaharnag­ar this year.

70 collected from the victims, fake government stamps, and 10 mobile phones. Two more accused, Balakrishn­a and Ghouse, are still at large, and efforts are on to nab them, said the police.

Rachakonda police said that one of the accused, Shivaranja­ni, was earlier arrested by Malkajgiri and Nacharam police in similar cases in 2017 and 2018, respective­ly. So far, she has been booked in 14 cases in both the Telugu-speaking states for cheating job aspirants.

The arrested persons, along with the seized property, were handed over to LB Nagar police station for further necessary action. Efforts are in progress to arrest the remaining accused.
