Out of prison for 2 days, harasser on prowl again

- DURGA PRASAD SUNKU

A cyber stalker, Surya Teja, who was booked by She team and jailed for two days still didn’t mend his ways. After coming out, he once again started harassing the victim, proving that punishments for sexual harassment are not adequate at all.

According to Sandhya (name changed), a private employee, one of her relatives named Surya Teja created a fake social media account in her name. He updated Sandhya’s school and college names on it and sent friend requests to all her classmates. A few days ago, the miscreant also uploaded Sandhya’s pictures and videos on the same account and sent it to her friends on WhatsApp. Further, he posted a story on Sandhya’s Timeline which was offensive and derogatory and circulated it.

Recalling her previous experience, Sandhya said that in the year 2018, “he invited me to a get together. I went to a hotel in Panjagutta and he latched the door from inside and sexually assaulted me.”

However, Sandhya fought him and Teja released her but not before taking some pictures with her. Using those pictures, Teja started blackmailing, threatening that he would upload them on social media unless she allowed him sexual favours. Sandhya approached the She team who immediately booked a petty case against Teja, who was convicted by a local court and jailed for two days.

However, Teja didn’t change his ways. Upon his release, he started calling and mailing her again, which Sandhya ignored. On February 27, Teja again approached Sandhya and started harassing her. Sandhya approached the cybercrime police who booked him and efforts are on to nab him.
