2nd positive case recorded in TS

Telangana on Saturday registered its second Covid-19 case with authoritie­s confirming that a 24year-old woman from Aswaraopet in Bhadadri Kothagudem district has got it. She recently returned from Italy.

At the same time another individual, a 27-yearold male, who too returned recently from Italy and was living in Mancherial since his arrival, was sent to Gandhi Hospital because of Covid-19 symptoms.

They were pursuing an MS in Computer Sciences in Italy. The woman, officials said, returned from Italy on March 7 and went home but developed fever two days later. She was admitted by her family to a private hospital in Manuguru; then taken to the area Government hospital at Bhadrachal­am, from where she returned home. She and her family were counselled by the local Bhadrachal­am district surveillan­ce officer to get her admitted to Gandhi Hospital. She tested positive on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the man reached Mancherial on March 2 and went to the government hospital with complaints of fever, cough and cold. After an initial check-up he was directed to Gandhi Hospital.

Two additional individual­s, one from Malaysia and another from the US, were on Saturday taken from the airport to Gandhi Hospital in a special ambulance. They are under observatio­n and their results are awaited. A total of 18 persons are awaiting test results for Covid-19. Of these, samples of 14 were collected on Saturday. Four results are pending since Friday.
