Central govt to report measures to stop virus
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy addressed a press conference on Sunday on various issues. He said the Central government would announce new measures for containing the spread of the Coronavirus after holding discussions in Parliament
The Prime Minister had constituted two task force teams to monitor the situation., he added.
He said there are no taxes on the manufacture of medicines related to coronavirus, and the Central government has been talking to state government officials from time to time.
He said that all paramilitary forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and the Border Security Force, have been advised to keep ready quarantine camps for Covid-19 suspects as a preparatory measure.
“We have given instructions to all our paramilitary forces across the country to keep ready quarantine facilities in their respective areas in case they are required. We have identified certain centres also for the camps and they are ready. They can accommodate any number of people as required by thehealth ministry,” he said.
He said the ministries of health and external affairs have been appointed as nodal agencies to tackle Covid-19 and the Centre has been issuing advisories to all the states as and when necessary. Regarding the problems of farmers, the MoS held a review meeting with officials of MARKFED, CCI and NAFED on procurement of cotton and red gram.
