Police station locked down in AP
The Kurnool district police office (DPO) was locked down on Tuesday as threat of Coronavirus (Covid-19) spread thick and fast after the son of a constable was admitted to the isolation ward. The DPO, comprising a ministerial staff strength of 30, was closed for sanitisation as the constable was working there.
However, superintendent of police Dr Kaginelli Fakkeerappa said on Tuesday evening that the constable’s son had tested negative and there was no need to panic.
Earlier in the day, two more cases were referred to isolation wards on suspicion. However, it was found that they did not have have any symptoms (asymptomatic) and were allowed to go home, a medical doctor said.
One person, who belonged to Kadapa district and was studying in Rome, Italy, came to Bengaluru. Instead of going home, he came to Kurnool and was staying with friends for the past week.
He showed up on Tuesday before a medical team voluntarily and was reportedly allowed to leave.
Another suspect, a resident of Kurnool, who returned from Canada, where he was studying, was also found negative and was allowed to go home.

The superintended of police said that a coordinated approach was being worked out with the his counterpart of Bellary to deal with surge of pilgrims. He said that screening would be done at check posts in Andhra border and suspects would be advised to go back home or gets admitted in Bellary hospitals, he said.
There were about 235 people, who had arrived from foreign countries in recent months but health officials do not have their details.
The SP said that enumeration was going on in villages with a computer application. Adoni and Nandyal revenue divisions were on full alert to identify suspects.
District health officials said that the Kurnool government general hospital has converted an old building in the premises into a 100-bed isolation centre to meet exigencies.
