Aggressive start by BJP’s Bandi puts Cong in tizzy

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The appointment of an aggressive leader like Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Lok Sabha MP, as the president of the Telangana state BJP unit has had a strange fallout — it is causing worry to the cadre and leaders of Congress party in the state.

Many Congress leaders feel that if the new BJP president succeeds in sending a message to the people of Telangana with his hard-hitting attitude that the saffron party is the only alternative to TRS in the state, then the Congress would face a difficult situation ahead. The early actions and words of Mr Bandi Sanjay indicate that the BJP high command nominated him for aggressively targeting the TRS and he is off to a flying start.

In contrast, though there has been a talk in Congress of changing the TPCC chief for a while now, it has not materialised. Several senior leaders in the party are lobbying for the post of TPCC president. Some leaders are even indulging into personal criticism in media against each other or targeting other aspirants, causing worry to cadres that such internecine rivalry would further weaken the party.

Many senior leaders, in private talks, reveal that the party high command has to select a leader who could curtail an aggressive approach by BJP and give a tough fight to ruling party in days ahead. They say that if the Congress chooses a wrong leader for the TPCC post, then it would difficult for party and cadre.

Some leaders say that they would write letters to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to select an aggressive leader for the post so that the party can face both the TRS and BJP in next elections.
