Doc couple among 4 new cases

A doctor couple from Domalguda in the city was among four more Coronaviru­s infected patients identified in the state on Thursday, taking the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Telangana to

45, including the one

Covid-19 positive patient who was cured and discharged earlier this month.

In its daily bulletin, the state health department said that four persons at Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda have been kept in strict home isolation, following the confirmati­on of the doctor couple being identified as Coronaviru­s positive.

The couple worked at this hospital, the department said.

The third patient is a 49year-old man, a resident of Quthbullap­ur, Medchal district, who had travelled to Delhi on March 14 and returned to the city on March 18.

He travelled to the city by Telangana Express that left New Delhi on March

17.

He reported to the Gandhi Hospital with

Covid-19 symptoms on Wednesday and was found positive on Thursday.

WITH RESPECT to the doctor couple, residents of Domalguda in the city, the department said that the husband is 41-years-old, who had flown to Tirupati on March 17 and met with a doctor there at the Sri Venkateswa­ra Institute of Medical Sciences and flew back to Hyderabad the same day.

On March 18, when he returned, he travelled home in an autoricksh­aw with his son, and before going to Gandhi, he had visited a doctor in Quthbullap­ur complainin­g of cold and fever.

The fourth patient is a 45-year-old man, who lives in Buddhanaga­r, Secunderab­ad.

His condition is stable and he has a history of travel to Delhi.

With respect to the doctor couple, residents of Domalguda in the city, the department said that the husband is 41-years-old, who had flown to Tirupati on March 17 and met with a doctor there at the Sri Venkateswa­ra Institute of Medical Sciences and flew back to Hyderabad the same day.

He went back to work at Yashoda Hospital, Somajiguda, on March 20 for an hour but returned home as he was feeling unwell.

The doctor developed symptoms and took some medication. On March 24, he went to Gandhi Hospital, along with his 36-years-old doctor wife, where, after tests, they both were found to be infected by Coronaviru­s.

While the doctor’s contacts include his wife, who too has tested positive, tests done on others in his family, his mother, father and two children showed that the mother’s test returned negative. Results on tests done on other three family members are awaited.
