SANITISERS FOR ALL, MONEY FOR POOR: CONGRESS

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has appealed to the state government to provide rice and financial assistance of `1,500 to poor people who do not have white ration cards.

He said autoricksh­aw drivers, labourers, workers in the unorganise­d sector and dailywage earners should be extended the relief as they have lost their livelihood due to the lockdown.

Addressing Congress workers live on Facebook on Thursday evening, Mr Reddy appealed to all sections of society to support the initiative­s being taken by the Centre and the state government to prevent the spread of the coronaviru­s.

He said that the bank details of white ration card holders were yet to be gathered. Further, for those not having bank accounts, he advised that the government pay cash at the time of distributi­on of rice at ration shops.

To extend help for the people of the state in view of the coronaviru­s disease Covid-19, Congress leaders in the state have decided to distribute hand sanitisers to the public.He said food and financial assistance should be given to people without ration cards.

Congress Legislativ­e Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday said, “we have decided to distribute sanitisers on behalf of the Congress.” Mr Bhatti expressed worry over severe shortage of sanitisers in the rural areas and said that former MLA K. Laxma Reddy had been entrusted with the responsibi­lity of delivering the sanitisers in all rural areas with coordinati­on of senior leaders in the state.

The CLP leader requested pharma companies to came forward to produce sanitisers for the poor people. He also said there is non-availabili­ty of plastic bottles.

Mr Bhatti said he had taken the same issue to the attention of ministers K.T. Rama Rao and Etala Rajendar and requested to take measures for plastic bottles to be produced.
