BJP, TRS HUSHING UP CORONA NUMBERS: CONG
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has charged both BJP-led government at the Centre and the TRS regime in the state of being hand-inglove in hushing up of real statistics pertaining to coronavirus infection in the country and state.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday after distributing sanitisers and masks in the Secunderabad Assembly segment, Narayana Reddy accused the state government of not even conducting Covid19 tests in adequate numbers. “In order to project low figures, the Telangana state government is actually trying to hide Covid-19 patients and suspects behind curtains. They are being transformed into ticking bombs. Once the lockdown gets over, these untested and untreated patients may play havoc with the entire society,” the Congress leader feared. He pointed out that there have been multiple cases of community transmission in Telangana state and other parts of the country, although Coronavirus entering the third stage has not been acknowledged. At least 22 positive cases have been reported in Telangana state with no travel history. Instead of sounding an alert, the state government is in a denial mode, he said.
Quoting ‘Doctors for Seva’, an NGO, Narayana Reddy said not only is there under-testing of Covid-19 in Telangana state, but also under-reporting. Several experts have objected to the way coronavirus suspects are being kept with positive patients in the same ward. They are being forced to use the same washrooms and other facilities, which may turn a negative person into
Covid-19 positive, he remarked. The Congress leader alleged that the InterMinisterial Central Team (IMCT) has not done its job properly. “The IMCT appears to be on some kind of excursion or study tour. They are visiting all places in Hyderabad taking pictures and shooting videos for social media.”
