CM wants to divert Krishna waters to AP: Uttam

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao plans to divert the waters of the Krishna river to Andhra Pradesh through the Pothireddypadu project, which is not doing justice to the people of the state, especially south Telangana, Mr N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress

Committee president, alleged on Tuesday.

He alleged that it was only due to the inefficiency and tie-up of Mr Rao with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy that AP government had released GO 203 listing some projects on the Krishna river.

The senior leader demanded that Mr Rao resign the day the Pothireddypadu head regulator enhancement works begin operation.

He was addressing a press conference along with MPs, A. Revanth Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan in the city on Tuesday.

The TPCC chief accused Mr Rao of conspiring with Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to cause losses to Telangana farmers of another 7 TMC water from Srisailam for

AP. He said that the Congress would launch an agitation on Pothireddy Padu water-lifting on June 2.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy also attacked Mr Rao for corruption in Kaleshwaram tenders and questioned how `21,000 crore worth of tenders were floated and closed during the lockdown period.

Mr Revanth Reddy, TPCC working president and

Malkajgiri MP said, then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy had initiated the lifting of 44,000 cusecs of water in 2005 for AP only with the consent of Mr Rao, who was then a Union minister.

He recalled that when the Congress leaders P. Janardhan Reddy and Marri Shashidhar Reddy had protested against this, Mr Rao had not supported the Telangana leaders.
