A majority of Muslims in Hyderabad have resolved not to attend the Id prayer in either Idgah or mosque to avoid creating crowds that could lead to the spread of Coronavirus. Instead, they decided to say Salat-e-Shukrana (Thanksgiving prayer) at their respective homes as the restrictions on religious gatherings has not been lifted by the government.

Various seminaries and spiritual leaders also appealed to the faithful to avoid congregating on the eve of Id.

India Muslim Personal Law Board Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, city president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Moulana Mufti Abdul Mughni Mazaheri, and Moulana Safi Ahmed Madani of the Jamiat Ahle Hadith have also appealed to people to avoid congregating for Id prayers and to say the Chasht prayer (a non obligatory prayer which begins when the sun rises a quarter and ends before noon prayer) or Shukrana prayer. Official spokesperson of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, Shujath Ali, has appealed to all Muslims to offer the Namaz-e-Id in their respective homes as a preventive measure. If they offer namaz at idgahs or mosques they will not be able to maintain physical distancing, and this will be dangerous for the whole society.

Shujath contended that all the 57 Muslim nations worldwide have issued fatwas regarding distancing.
