POLICE YET TO SOLVE NINE GUEST WORKERS’ DEATHS

- ANUDEEP CEREMILLA I DC

Mystery continues to shroud the death of nine guest workers, whose dead bodies were found in an abandoned well in Gorrekunta of Warangal Rural district. Police are yet to make a breakthrough, though they are questioning all people close to deceased Maqsood’s family and recording their statements.

Two guest workers from Bihar, Sanjay Kumar Yadav and Mohan, who were frequently in touch with Maqsood, were brought to the crime scene as part of the enquiry on Saturday. The cause of deaths is yet to be ascertained.

Mamnoor ACP G. Shyam Sunder said, “So far, we have not found any motive for murder. A background check of the family reveals no conflict with any outsiders. Our investigation too has revealed that Maqsood’s family was friendly with all. People in surroundings of their workplace as well as co-workers echo the same opinion. Six teams are working on the case right now in a coordinated manner. We are exploring all angles to rule out certain suspicions. We are relying on post mortem and forensic reports to move forward in the case,” the ACP disclosed.

Forensic experts who completed post-mortem of the deceased on Saturday went through the crime scene for more clues. Dr Md. Raza Mallik, forensic head of MGM Hospital, said: “We cannot give a conclusive statement right now. It is too early to comment or come to a conclusion. It does appear they swallowed water before they died, which means they were alive when they were thrown in the well. There are scratches on some of the bodies. All viscera and sternum bones have been sent for chemical analysis. The reports could take 10 days to two weeks,” the forensic expert stated.
