Patna witnesses poster-war ahead of Shah’s virtual rally

- NAYEAR AZAD I DC

With Assembly elections slated to be held later this year, political parties have started using posters and hoardings to take a dig at their opponents.

Posters featuring RJD chief Lalu Yadav and Mohammad Shahabuddin came up here on Sunday. Sources in JD(U) said that the posters have been put up to oppose RJD’s “Thali Bajao” campaign against Union home minister Amit Shah’s first virtual rally.

RJD leaders are shown banging utensils inside a jail with people looking at them.

Meanwhile, former chief minister Rabri Devi, her sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap and other party leaders launched a statewide campaign against Shah’s rally.

“Guest workers and poor people are suffering due to the wrong policies of the government but the Bharatiya Janata Party is celebrating. Instead of organising a digital rally to win Assembly elections, they should have used the medium to extend relief and support to the workers who returned from other states”, Tejashwi Yadav said and added that the party was observing the day as “Garib Adhikar diwas”. He urged the centre and the state government to distribute `10,000 to each guest worker as an immediate relief measure.

Talking to reporters, he said “Amit Shah and

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should inform people about what they have done to generate employment, the status of education, health and law and order in the state through their virtual rallies”.

Meanwhile, senior JD (U) leader and Minister, Niraj Kumar, came out of his official residence to clap in protest against RJD’s campaign.

When asked about the anti-RJD posters put up across Patna, Niraj Kumar said that he had no clue about who had installed those posters but “the slogans on these posters have exposed the real face of the RJD”.

TEJASHWI YADAV says instead of organising a digital rally BJP should have used the medium to extend relief to the workers.

HE URGES the centre and the state government to distribute `10,000 to each guest worker as an immediate relief measure.
