TD leader K. Atchannaidu developed bleeding from a surgical wound after he was arrested in Srikakulam district on Friday and brought to Guntur, a distance of about 500 km. He had recently undergone piles surgery and, according to party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, was advised a week’s rest.

Atchannaidu has been accused of participating in a `150 crore medical purchase scam. After he was produced before a magistrate and sent to 14day judicial custody, Atchannaidu was taken to the Government General Hospital (GGH) at Guntur. He said Atchannaidu was responding well to treatment and his condition was stable. He said that presently the wound has been ruptured due to travelling long distance for hours. of piles got infection which further troubling Atchannaidu with pain. Doctors were treating the wound and said it will take at least two to three days for the pain to subside.

If his condition deteriorated, another surgery would be performed on Atchannaidu, Dr Sudhakar said.

Dr Sudhakar explained Atchannaidu’s health condition to TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu who came to GGH on Saturday evening.

Responding to reports of the TD leader’s conditions, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday directed officials to provide Atchannaidu with good treatment either at GGH or any other hospital.

TD leaders alleged that the YSRC government was responsible for the deteriorating health of Atchannaidu for the rude behaviour of police for deterioration of their leader’s health condition.

Atchannaidu’s nephew and TD MP K. Rammohan Naidu alleged that the police took Atchannaidu forcibly from the house at Nimmada to Vijayawada without proper precautions. He said Atchannaidu had informed ACB and police officials of his health.
