KTR inaugurates four link roads
4.67-km roads will ease vehicular traffic
Municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao inaugurated four important link roads in the city on Monday. The link roads totalling 4.67 km and costing `33.80 crore will ease vehicular traffic between Hyderabad and Cyberabad. Another 33 link roads will be opened for the public by July end.
The four roads are: GHMC Serilingampally zonal office to NH 65 (2.7 km), which goes along the Manjeera pipeline; High Tension line roadMiyapur road (1 km); Jubilee Hills Road No. 70Road No. 78 (0.47 km) and

Neknampur-Osmansagar road (0.46 km). The GHMC, HMDA and Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL) together developed the roads. Work on the link roads was initiated after Rama Rao took feedback from a cross-section of road users. As per his instructions, the GHMC planning wing and HMDA identified 137 places where link roads could be built. These would cumulatively reduce travel distance by
126.2 km. The HRDCL has taken up 37 link roads costing `313.6 crore.
GHMC town planning officials interacted with landowners and completed land acquisition. The municipal administration department is conducting surveys to identify places where link roads can be built.
The government has developed a Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) to develop link roads and slip roads keeping in view that the population of the city will rise to 89 lakh by
2024.
