The Hyderabad city police on Wednesday took Telugu film producer and YSR Congress leader Potluri Vara Prasad into their custody on charges of trespassing into the house of his neighbour along with 20 of his henchmen and demolishing a temporary structure built by the neighbour, Vikram Kailash.

According to the Banjara Hills police, they received a call from Vikram Kailash, saying that Vara Prasad had trespassed into his house along with his henchmen and was threatening him of dire consequences if he did not stop construction of the rooftop garden on the terrace of his house.

Vara Prasad was opposing his neighbour’s construction as it would obstruct the view from his residence.

“After receiving the information, the patrolling team near the area of Prem Parvat Hills on Road No. 14 of Banjara Hills was alerted which reached the spot and Vara Prasad and his henchmen were taken into custody,” Banjara Hills additional inspector of police K. Ravi Kumar said.

He said, on the complaint of Vikram Kailash, a case has been booked against Vara Prasad and his associates on the charges of trespass, causing damage, intentional insult with an intent to breach of the peace, criminal intimidation, rioting and unlawful assembly.

According to the complainant, Vara Prasad lives right behind his house at Prem Parvat Hills and, in fact, Prem Parvat Villas venture was developed by the PVP Group owned by Vara Prasad and he had bought one of the villas a year ago and wanted to build a rooftop garden.

Vara Prasad opposed his neighbour Vikram Kailash from developing the rooftop garden because it will obstruct the view from his residence which is exactly behind the villa.

Vikram Kailash informed the police that six months ago Vara Prasad called him and told him to avoid any construction on his residence, and he also postponed his dream of constructing a rooftop garden due to the lockdown. He, however, resumed the work 15 days ago. On Tuesday evening, Vara Prasad approached him and again told him not to construct the garden and threatened him of dire consequences if he continued with the project.

Vikram Kailash told Deccan Chronicle, “I live with my wife, six-yearold daughter and my 65year-old mother. Vara Prasad on Wednesday morning along with 20 of his associates barged into my residence and started demolishing the partially constructed rooftop garden... My mother was horrified by his action. Prasad also threatened other neighbours.” According to the protocol in view of

Covid-19, the arrested person has to undergo a medical examination. Since it was too late for medical examination, he was sent to house custody. On Thursday, after medical examination, he will be sent to judicial custody.
