Seven Warangal scribes test +ve
Seven journalists of the
125 who underwent Covid19 test in Warangal Urban district were found to have contacted the virus on Wednesday.
The Medical and Health department officials conducted tests on journalists from the print and electronic media at the Warangal press club on Saturday and Sunday.
Their swab samples were collected and tested at the virology lab in the Kakatiya Medical College. Upon receiving the test five who tested positive were admitted to the Covid-19 ward at the MGM hospital and two others have been suggested home quarantine.
Warangal Urban District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr K. Lalitha Devi said that all the seven who are positive are asymptomatic. Apart from journalists, on Wednesday, we collected samples of 37 persons. The test reports are awaited.
Meanwhile, the Warangal press club president Tumma Sridhar Reddy informed the minister for Panchayat Raj, Errabelli Dayakar Rao about the development. He submitted a representation to provide better treatment to the infected journalists. Accordingly, the minister instructed the MGM Hospital Superintendent Dr B. Srinivas Rao to take good care of journalists undergoing treatment.
