As many as 26 officers and staff in the Andhra Pradesh High Court have been tested positive for the Covid 19.

The patients have been placed under the supervision of expert doctors and Chief Justice J.K. Maheshwari is personally monitoring their health condition through a team headed by the Registrar (management), according to a letter written by incharge Registrar General Gandham Sunitha, to judicial officers, staff of the High Court and subordinate judiciary.

Writing on behalf of the Chief Justice, she, however, asked the staff to work at par with frontline workers like health, municipal administration, water, electricity supply and police “so as to ensure the democratic spirit” (sic). It is to be kept in mind that the functioning of judiciary is highly essential to protect and safeguard the rights of individuals, she said.

“With a great concern towards health of the staff”, the Chief Justice held consultations with team of expert doctors who stated that “building up of immunity and change of lifestyle is the only way to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus” and suggested to take recourses like frequent washing of hands, maintaining social distancing and practising yoga, Sunitha said on behalf of the Chief Justice.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now it is time to understand more so that we must fear less,” she pointed. Being responsible citizens, the staff should understand that though the Covid-19 is highly contagious the percentage of recovery is more than 98 per cent according to sources, she added.

Maintaining that the administration of the High Court is committed to combat situation of distress and for the support of staff, Sunitha further said “being human is a gift but keeping up humanity is a choice”.
