KTR reviews Pharma City

Industries minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday expressed hope that the Hyderabad Pharma City will be the platform that will gift the world a Coronaviru­s vaccine.

He was reviewing the progress of Hyderabad Pharma City with officials of the TS Industrial Infrastruc­ture Corporatio­n Ltd (TSIIC) and industries and electricit­y department­s. He said. “I wish that the ongoing vaccine trials will yield good results, not only for Covid-19 but for many other diseases.”

He said that Covid-19 and the resultant crisis can be utilised in favour of developmen­t of life sciences and pharma sector in the state.

He noted that Hyderabad has earned the distinctio­n of being a city that has a high number of USFDA (US Food and Drugs Administra­tion) permits for manufactur­e of drugs. He said that Pharma City will become a prominent project in Hyderabad, which is transformi­ng into the world’s largest pharma cluster.

Rama Rao asked officers to prepare and submit short and longterm timelines with regard to the proposed developmen­t of the Pharma City, and the expected progress in a span of five years.

He said that Pharma City will not be limited to production of pharmaceut­icals but to also accommodat­e a university for life sciences, pharma research and developmen­t facilities and an extensive green cover.

KTR ASKED officers to prepare and submit short and long-term timelines with regard to the proposed developmen­t of the Pharma City, and the expected progress in a span of five years.
