KTR reviews Pharma City
Industries minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday expressed hope that the Hyderabad Pharma City will be the platform that will gift the world a Coronavirus vaccine.
He was reviewing the progress of Hyderabad Pharma City with officials of the TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (TSIIC) and industries and electricity departments. He said. “I wish that the ongoing vaccine trials will yield good results, not only for Covid-19 but for many other diseases.”
He said that Covid-19 and the resultant crisis can be utilised in favour of development of life sciences and pharma sector in the state.
He noted that Hyderabad has earned the distinction of being a city that has a high number of USFDA (US Food and Drugs Administration) permits for manufacture of drugs. He said that Pharma City will become a prominent project in Hyderabad, which is transforming into the world’s largest pharma cluster.
Rama Rao asked officers to prepare and submit short and longterm timelines with regard to the proposed development of the Pharma City, and the expected progress in a span of five years.
He said that Pharma City will not be limited to production of pharmaceuticals but to also accommodate a university for life sciences, pharma research and development facilities and an extensive green cover.
