Gov. urges recovered patients to donate plasma
Only those who possess adequate antibodies to fight Covid can donate plasma, says Tamilisai
Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan -has appealed to all patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to donate plasma and help treat those still suffering from the disease. The Governor’s appeal came during her visit to the ESI Medical College at Sanatnagar, where she inspected the Covid-19 plasma blood bank on Saturday.
After interacting with the hospital and the blood bank staff, the Governor told the media that there need not be any misconceptions about plasma donation. “All the people who have recovered are not eligible to donate plasma. Only those who possess adequate antibodies to fight Covid-19 are eligible to do so,” she said.
Dr Soundararajan said plasma therapy was one of the vital ways to save the lives of Covid-19 patients who are in a serious condition.
On her efforts to provide confidence among people over facing Covid-19 and improve treatment facilities, Dr Soundararajan said she does not see herself as the Governor. “I see myself as a catalyst in the service of the people of Telangana state. Not as the
First Citizen of Telangana, but as one among the common people. I am for the constructive work and I am here to cooperate and complement the services of the government to the people of the state.”
The Governor appreciated plasma donor Santosh’s coming forward to do so, for his humanitarian gesture, and said that he was a role model for many prospective donors. She lauded the services of Dr Srinivas of ESIC, terming him as a Covid-19 warrior who beat the disease.
