Uttam: Make virus care free for BPL families
State Congress president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday reiterated the demand that
Covid-19 treatment be brought under Aarogyasri scheme and free
Covid-19 treatment be given to all below poverty line families.
Addressing party cadre on Facebook as part of ‘Speak Up Telangana’ campaign organised by the TPCC Covid-19 Task Force, he asked the state government to regulate the charges for Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals.
He stressed on increasing the number of
Covid-19 tests and strengthening of medical infrastructure at government hospitals by arranging adequate number of ventilators and oxygen beds.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the negligence displayed by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in handling the Coronavirus was nothing short of cruelty against humanity as it had killed hundreds and infected thousands of people. He said that the CM had adopted a non-serious approach right from the begining.
“While the rest of the world is taking measure to defeat the deadly virus, the KCR government is still in deep slumber. It has completely failed to prevent the spread of the virus and no measures were taken to provide treatment to the infected people.”
Alleging that the treatment being offered was inadequate, he pointed out that entire load of Covid-19 patients was put on in one hospital (Gandhi Hospital) which had overburdened the doctors and para-medical staff.
He said innumerable complaints of negligence had cropped up in the last few months and no arrangements were made at other government hospitals to treat the Covid-19 patients.
He said, “The KCR government has even failed to upgrade government hospitals with basic oxygen supply in the last five-six months to deal with the situation. There is huge shortage of ventilators, oxygen-equipped beds, doctors, para-medics and other infrastructure.”
He said that as part of the campaign, thousands of Congress leaders and workers had uploaded videos, images and information exposing the negligence of the government in handling the Covid-19.
