Indonesia plans repatriation of its nationals from India
Indonesia has announced that it plans to send as many of its nationals back home from India as it can on future repatriation flights as part of an ongoing repatriation drive amid the Coronavirus pandemic and ban on scheduled international flights.
The latest such repatriation flight — a chartered flight of Indonesian carrier Garuda Indonesia — left New Delhi on Saturday with 47 Indonesians on board for the Indonesian Capital Jakarta via Singapore.
The Indonesian Embassy in a statement said its nationals would also be able to spend the forthcoming Id festival with their families back home.
Another repatriation flight with Indonesian nationals on board will leave from Mumbai on July 23.
“We hope to send as many Indonesians as possible back to Indonesia on the next flight (on July 23). After months of separation from their families due to the Coronavirus pandemic, those celebrating will be able to enjoy Id-Adha with their families,” Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharto Suryodipuro was quoted as saying, in a statement released by the Embassy.
Repatriation flights were also organised earlier on May 20 and May 22 that carried a total of 176 Indonesians back home from New Delhi and Mumbai.
Another repatriation flight was organised earlier this month on July 4 that carried back 107 Indonesians from New Delhi, the Indonesian Embassy said.
The Indonesian Embassy added that all the passengers would be medically tested before boarding the flights and only Asymptomatic passengers would be allowed to board.
