Martyred Colonel’s wife is dy collector

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao on Wednesday handed over an appointmen­t order to Santoshi, wife of martyred Colonel Santosh Babu, at Pragathi Bhavan, posting her as deputy collector in the Group-I cadre of the state government.

Colonel Santosh Babu was among the 20 Indian soldiers martyred in Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh on June 15 in a violent clash with Chinese troops. Many casualties were reported among the Chinese troops too, though they have not yet been officially acknowledg­ed by China.

The Colonel’s family arrived at the Pragathi Bhavan following an invitation by the Chief Minister for lunch.

While interactin­g with them, Mr Rao inquired about their well-being.

He assured the family that the state government will always be there to lend any support required by them.

Handing over the appointmen­t letter to Santoshi, the Chief Minister instructed CMO secretary Smita Sabharwal to guide and mentor Santoshi till she completes her training and settles down in her new job.

Mr Rao also directed the authoritie­s concerned that they give her a posting in Hyderabad or its surroundin­g areas. Later the Chief Minister had lunch with family members of late Colonel Santosh Babu. Earlier, Hyderabad district collector Swetha Mohanty handed over documents of a plot measuring 711 square yards to the family of the martyred colonel. The plot is located opposite KBR Park on Road No 14 in Banjara Hills.
