Uma Bharti gets invite for Ram Temple event

Two senior BJP leaders of Madhya Pradesh, former chief minister Uma Bharti and ex-minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, have been invited to attend the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ for Ram temple, to be held in Ayodhya on August 5.

Both the saffron leaders are currently facing trial in the Babri mosque demolition case.

They are the only leaders from MP who have received an invitation to attend the ceremony by the Ram Janmabhoom­i Nyas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Ms Bharti on Saturday made public the invitation extended to her to attend the ceremony in a twitter post.

According to her, the invitees have been asked to reach the venue on August 4 and not leave before August 6.

Ms Bharti, who played a major role in Ram temple movement, said she felt elated when she received the invitation to attend Bhumi Pujan for the temple.

Another BJP leader from MP who received an invitation to attend the occasion was former minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya. Mr Pawaiya had also played a role in Ram temple movement and is an accused in Babi mosque demolition case.

He had earlier served as national president of Bajrang Dal.

Mr Pawaiya who lost 2018 Assembly polls in Gwalior in MP as a BJP candidate, is also known as a bitter critic of erstwhile Gwalior royal family of Scindia.

Uma Bharti, who played a major role in Ram temple movement, said she felt elated when she received the invitation to attend Bhumi Pujan for the temple.
