GOVERNOR PUSHES FOR PLASMA BANK
Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday called for intensified efforts to set up a plasma bank to effectively coordinate between donors and Covid-19 patients who need the plasma, and save more lives.
The Governor was speaking after celebrating Raksha Bandhan with plasma donors at Raj Bhavan. She felicitated the donors and hailed them as saviours of lives. The Governor appreciated B. Nitin Kumar, an IITian from Mumbai, who donated plasma four times, and S. Siva Pratap, Syed Mustaf Irfan, Umer Farooque, Ennamsetty Akhil and Dr Roopa Darshini, all of whom have donated plasma twice.
The Governor stated that plasma donors have set a great example for others to emulate and added that through their visit the Raj Bhavan has become more divine.
The Governor said, “people without an iota of hesitation can approach the nearest available government hospital, as they have treated Covid-19 patients successfully.”
She said, “I appreciate the government hospitals and doctors for their exemplary and humanitarian services. I salute frontline warriors like doctors, nurses, medical staff, police, sanitation workers and journalists for their commitment and selfless services during these challenging times.” She appealed to private hospitals to treat patients at reasonable and affordable rates with a humanitarian approach, and not to overcharge and burden them and their families.
