GOVERNOR PUSHES FOR PLASMA BANK

Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundarara­jan on Monday called for intensifie­d efforts to set up a plasma bank to effectivel­y coordinate between donors and Covid-19 patients who need the plasma, and save more lives.

The Governor was speaking after celebratin­g Raksha Bandhan with plasma donors at Raj Bhavan. She felicitate­d the donors and hailed them as saviours of lives. The Governor appreciate­d B. Nitin Kumar, an IITian from Mumbai, who donated plasma four times, and S. Siva Pratap, Syed Mustaf Irfan, Umer Farooque, Ennamsetty Akhil and Dr Roopa Darshini, all of whom have donated plasma twice.

The Governor stated that plasma donors have set a great example for others to emulate and added that through their visit the Raj Bhavan has become more divine.

The Governor said, “people without an iota of hesitation can approach the nearest available government hospital, as they have treated Covid-19 patients successful­ly.”

She said, “I appreciate the government hospitals and doctors for their exemplary and humanitari­an services. I salute frontline warriors like doctors, nurses, medical staff, police, sanitation workers and journalist­s for their commitment and selfless services during these challengin­g times.” She appealed to private hospitals to treat patients at reasonable and affordable rates with a humanitari­an approach, and not to overcharge and burden them and their families.
