- S.A. ISHAQUI I DC

Aiming for victory in the GHMC elections, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar has started reorganising the party units of Hyderabad city and the adjacent Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts to create more posts for leaders and strengthen the support base in the city.

Sanjay has decided to wind up the BJP Hyderabad city wing and constitute new units in its place by the dividing 15 Assembly constituencies under the Hyderabad district into four units, named Mahankali, Amberpet-Bathukamma, Bhagyalakshmi and Golconda. Sources in the party said Musheerabad, Sanathnagar, Cantonment and Secunderabad Assem-bly segments will be part of the Mahankali district, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills and Malakpet will come under Amberpet-Bathukamma district.

Yakutpura, Charminar and Bahadurpura will constitute the Bhagyalakshmi district and Nampally, Karwan and Goshamahal will be grouped under the Golconda district.

Sources said that the Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri district units will reorganised as LB Nagar and Malkajgiri units, bringing under them Kukkatpally, Serlingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Uppal, Medchal, LB Nagar, Patancheru and Quthbullapur Assembly constituencies.

Sources said that Sanjay was of the opinion that reorganising the city unit and the Ranga Reddy district into six new units will give scope to induct more enthusiastic cadres so that they can work to strengthen the party to face the TRS and MIM.

The lone MLA of the party, Raja Singh, openly opposed the move and expressed displeasure at the new state executive committee announced by Sanjay on Sunday.

In a post on his Twitter handle, Raja Singh said that Sanjay took the decision without consulting senior leaders including himself. Sources said that Raja Singh was aspiring for the post of the Hyderabad unit president but the division of the city unit into four wings had cost him that chance.

Sources said that party leaders including Rajesh Reddy and Shyamsunder Goud were contenders to head the Mahankali district, Deepak Reddy and Goutham Rao were aspiring for the Amberpet-Bathukamma unit post. For the Bhagyalakshmi district Su-render Reddy and Roop Raj Yadav and for the Golconda unit Uma Mahender and Bikshapathi are aspirants.
