Lockdown not a solution to tackle virus, says KTR
IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said the government would not impose another lockdown. “Lockdown is not a permanent solution to tackle the pandemic,” he said at an event at his Assembly constituency Sircilla on Monday.
The government had previously hinted at another lockdown to control the surging Covid-19 cases in the state. “Some friends are asking for imposing lockdown. A lockdown is not a solution. We may be able to slow Covid-19 cases to some extent but except causing some inconvenience to people a lockdown is not a permanent solution,” he said.
He said people would have to live with the virus by taking safety precautions till a medicine or a vaccine was found for Covid-19.
Rama Rao said the death rate of Covid-19 is very less in Telangana state when compared to elsewhere in the country. If people who recover from the Covid-19 start donating plasma, they can save the lives of other patients and contribute to the lowering of the death rate, he said.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Covid-19 isolation centre in the agriculture college at Sardapur and a special Covid ward at the government hospital in Sircilla. He said people should not fear the virus but also should not neglect safety precautions. If they find any symptoms, they must visit the hospital and get tested.
“Even Union Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh contracted Covid-19,” Rama Rao said and called for support for frontline warriors of health, police and municipal departments.
“With a positive attitude and smile, half the disease can be cured. Health officials must treat the patients with love and affection,” he said.
