STATE STUDENT TOPS ADMISSION LIST AT V.I.T.

Telangana state’s Chagari Koushal Kumar Reddy from Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala topped the B. Tech admissions list announced by the Vellore Institute of Technology. A total of

1,83,059 students from around the country and

12 countries (West Asia, Indone-sia, Nepal, Nigeria, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, the UK and Singapore) had applied for admission.

VIT Chancellor Dr G. Viswanatha­n, said that admissions would be on merit, based on the normalised PCM/ PCB marks and JEE/ SAT scores obtained by the candidates. The ranks were declared for admission to 36 B.Tech. and B.Des. programmes offered by VIT at its Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal campuses. Under the GV School Developmen­t Programme, Central and state exam toppers would be given total cent fee waiver. Candidates with ranks up to 50 would get 75 per cent tuition fee waiver, those with ranks 51 to 100 50 per cent and candidates in ranks 101 to 1,000 would be given 25 per cent tuition fee waiver.

The district toppers (a boy and a girl) in Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh studying in government schools in rural areas will be given 100 per cent fee waiver and exemption from hostel and mess fees.

Students can register for online counsellin­g which will begin on August 10. Rank based counsellin­g would be held in four phases. Admission for other undergradu­ate and fiveyear integrated programmes is open.
