TS Covid cases cross 75,000

Hyderabad: Telangana crossed the 75,000 mark in

Covid-19 cases and the toll went past 600 due to the disease on Thursday, according to data released on Friday by the state health department. The state recorded its highesteve­r number of cases at

2,207 and the overall tally stood at 75,257 on Thursday. Reports of 1,539 samples are awaited. Of these 1,675 cases are from semi-rural and rural areas.

The state recorded its highest-ever number of cases at 2,207 and the overall tally stood at

75,257 on Thursday. Reports of 1,539 samples are awaited. Of these

1,675 new cases are from semi-rural and rural areas and the GHMC area reported 532 cases.

The surge outside the GHMC area is the highest in districts on the city outskirts: Ranga Reddy district recorded

196 cases. Warangal Urban reported 142 cases on Thursday and Kamareddy 96. Other districts are recording numbers in the double digits, according to the health department bulletin.

Twelve deaths were recorded on Thursday, taking the toll to 601. The first Covid-19 related death was registered on March 28, the one hundredth on June 4 and the toll reached 301 on July 6.

The intensity of cases in rural areas is showing the same pattern as in the city, with those in the age group from 30 to 60 years being the most affected.

More men are affected when compared to women. As in the urban areas, family members are being affected in the countrysid­e.
