- KANIZA GARARI I DC

Total of 13,77,384 Covid-19 patients have recovered in India and have developed antibodies. By December it is expected to touch 35 per cent of the population could have developed antibodies, which is being viewed as a shield against the virus.

Analysis of data by experts in different cities has shown that due to the heterogeneous nature of the population, the impact is worse in some sections while others are escaping with mild symptoms of Covid-19. This has caused major variations in the recovery rate is different in cities, towns, districts and states.

This is expected to continue till February 2021 till when new pockets of infection will be noted and then there will be recovery.

According to the World Health Organisation the positivity rate in India is 12.5 per cent, and there has been a 35 per cent increase in cases in the last one week. This means that the reproduction rate of the virus is very fast, and requires the strict norms of social distancing, masks and sanitisation to prevent its spread.

Antibody testing by the Indian Council of Medical Research, which tested 53,000 samples in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Surat, Kolkata and Chennai, showed that scattered groups had developed immunity.

INDIA IS seeing 30 deaths per 10 lakh Covid-19 patients

RECOVERY RATE is now 65 per cent — Dr Gridhar J. Gynai, director-general, Association of Healthcare Providers of India.
