A city-based businessman who complained against revenue officials for demanding a bribe was arrested by the Hyderabad Central Crime Station police on Sunday for allegedly creating fake documents of land and trying to claim its ownership.

In June, Syed Abdul Khaled of Mir Alam Mandi had complained to the AntiCorruption Bureau that Shaikpet revenue inspector K. Nagarjuna Reddy was demanding a `30-lakh bribe to settle the ownership of a parcel of land of 4,865 sq yards located at Road No. 14 of Banjara Hills.

Following the arrest of Nagarjuna Reddy while taking `15 lakh, as part of the bribe, the ACB officials also arrested sub-inspector Ravinder who was working at Banjara Hills police station for demanding a `3 lakh bribe. Subsequently, raids were conducted at the house of tahsildar Ch Sujatha and she was arrested on June 8.

About 10 days after Sujatha's arrest, her husband Vijay Kumar committed suicide by jumping from a building at Gandhinagar.

The CCS police said that the ACB officials had lodged a complaint against Syed Abdul Khaled and his legal adviser A. Ashok Reddy, stating that Khaled involved in forging the documents and attempted to grab government land. The accused had claimed that his father purchased the land in 1969, and fabricated the documents. The revenue department officials had filed complaints against the accused duo at Golconda and Banjara Hills police station for similar offences.

On Sunday, Khaled and Ashok were arrested and further investigation is underway by the while collar offences wing of the CCS, said the officials.
