BHATTI DEMANDS MORE FUNDS FOR HEALTH SECTOR

- IREDDY SRINIVAS REDDY | DC

Congress Legislative Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday demanded that the state government allocate sufficient funds to the medical department.

He criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s government for not reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the state. “He is afraid that lack of funds, shortage of doctors and safety kits in the medical department may come into the light,” Mallu Bhatti claimed.

Addressing the media along with party leaders D. Sridhar Babu and T. Jagga Reddy at the Assembly here, Mallu Bhatti pointed out that health minister Etala Rajendar had said stringent action will be taken against private hospitals for looting the people. “Why is the government not taking action against private hospitals which are exploiting the people,” he said.

“People have been complaining about the lack of testing kits,” the Congress leader said.

The CLP leader said that Rao and the Cabinet were saying that Telangana state was the richest in the country but the allocations for the medical department were very poor. “I was surprised to see the state with a budget of `82 lakh crore has no concern for the medical staff and the people,” Mallu Bhatti said.

He demanded that 50 per cent of private hospitals should be taken over by the government. He wanted the government to fix an appropriate and feasible rate for private hospitals and appoint 17 IAS officers, one for each parliamentary constituency, to monitor the billing in a strict manner.
