Cops warn against B’luru type FB posts
Director General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy and Commissioner of Hyderabad city police Anjani Kumar on Wednesday cautioned people not to share posts without verifying the authenticity and truthfulness of messages they may receive or find on various social media platforms.
In a tweet, Mahendar Reddy said the impact of sharing such unverified information that focused on a communal aspect caused a lot of destruction and damage in Bengaluru. He issued a strict warning that anyone found sharing posts online that can cause trouble, or law and order situations will face serious action from the police who will book cases against such individuals and prosecute them.
Everyone should behave and act with a sense of responsibility, Mahendar Reddy said, adding that maintaining peace in society and law and order is everyone’s responsibility.
In another tweet, Anjani Kumar called on people to be cautious, and thoughtful before sharing information on social media. He, too, recalling the violence in Bengaluru that led to police firing and the deaths of two persons, said 60 policemen were also injured in that city in the incidents that followed inflammatory posts on social media. “Action will be taken against any individual who shares such posts,” he warned.
