In view of IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s visit to Warangal, police put under house arrest several Opposition party leaders, including BJP Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma and district Congress president Naini Rajender Reddy.

Police landed at these leaders’ homes on Tuesday morning and advised them not to move out. Police was stationed outside their houses to prevent them from venturing out.

Condemning the move, Rao Padma said the TRS was running the government with the help of police and muzzling the voices of Opposition leaders.

“Several colonies of Warangal got inundated because of heavy rains. Police arrested us even before KTR’s arrival. They did not even allowed us to explain the situation to the minister. This government has become worse than the tyrant

Razakar rule,” the district BJP chief said.

She said, “Even after the city has gone through such trauma, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has sent only his son. That is because KCR made several promises to people of the city during the municipal corporation elections, like `300 crore special funds in the Budget and `3,000 crore for the city in three years. He has not fulfilled these promises. He is afraid people will question him. Today, KTR too will make promises and leave. The government is being run on empty promises,” she stated.

Padma warned that people of Warangal city will give a befitting reply to the TRS, as the ruling party has failed them twice.

DCC president Rajender Reddy called the arrest of Opposition leaders undemocratic, as it stopped them from questioning the government. “The TRS is running away from providing answers to people,” he said.
