KTR instructs staff to clean up parks
GHMC commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar has instructed zonal and deputy commissioners to take up a cleanliness drive in all city parks for a week starting from Friday. He said that K.T. Rama Rao, municipal administration and urban development minister, had asked corporation officials to visit parks in their respective zones to assess the facilities and also see if more amenities can be provided.
As per the commissioner’s instructions the zonal, deputy commissioners and deputy directors of urban biodiversity (UBD) wing will visit all the parks for a period of one week starting from ‘Green Friday’ later this week.
They would be accompanied by GHMC corporators and public representatives and oversee required repairs. In addition to overseeing the cleaning of park areas, they will also monitor repairs to compound walls,

They will examine the scope for further improvement by providing facilities like open gym, children play equipment and study places.
One-time cleaning of all old tree parks which have not been maintained for long will be taken up. Assessment for inclusion of Panchatatva acupressure tracks and other thematic landscape will also be done.
Colony parks and some main parks have been closed since the lockdown was imposed. There have been demands to reopen the parks especially for walkers.
