KTR TO DISTRIBUTE 85,000 2BHK HOMES BY DECEMBER
Despite not beginning the process of shortlisting the beneficiaries for distributing double bedroom houses from urban poor in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) minister K.T. Rama Rao assured to deliver 85,000
2BHK houses by December. He was addressing a review meeting on the status of dignity housing schemes in Hyderabad and said that the government will hand over a total of 85,000 2BHK houses in GHMC limits by December. He said that no metro city in the country has constructed such a large number of such houses under any programme.
The minister instructed officials to finalise the beneficiaries list by mid-September and urged them to visit the housing sites and inspect the progress of construction.
The government has allocated a total of `9,700 crore for the construction of one lakh houses with about 4,000 houses each in 24 constituencies of Hyderabad. As construction works at most of the sites are in the finishing stages, Rao asked the officials to also expedite the process of developing infrastructure facilities, including water supply, electricity, and other amenities.
“Beginning from this month until December, the government will be handing over the houses to the beneficiaries,” he said
The officials informed the Minister that a total of 75,000
2BHK houses and 10,000 houses under JNNURM and Vambay will be ready by the end of December.
